(Chris Jackson, Getty Images) BEIRUT, Lebanon (AP) - Nearly 20,000 people have been marching in Lebanon to protest Israel's offensive in the Gaza Strip.

The rally in a southern Lebanese town was organized by Hezbollah, a strong militant ally of Hamas that fought its own war with Israel in 2006.

Thousands of other people have been demonstrating across Europe. The largest crowds have been in Germany, where some 20,000 took to the streets in Berlin and two other cities.

In Edinburgh, Scotland, people threw shoes at the U.S. consulate. A protester says they're angry at the U.S. for not stopping the bloodshed in Gaza.

Today's protests have been mostly peaceful. But more than 60 people were injured yesterday during a large protest in Algeria's capital.
